analog magazine Issue #12
The 12th number of analog magazine presents seven exciting series that will make you fall in love with film photography.
First is the on-going project ‘Martha’ by Siân Davey from the UK, where she follows the adventures of her stepdaughter as a teenager. Next we introduce the unique B&W images of Edward Dimsdale also from the UK, for whom the printed image is fundamental to his practice. From France, Patrick Wack presents ‘Here There Are Men’, a sequence of portraits based in China that reveal the story of the environment as well as of the sitter. Elliott Verdier also from France, brings his renowned documentary project ‘Reaching for Dawn’, a piece that explores the traumas and consequences that the Liberian civil war brought upon its population. From China and based in New York, Pixy Liao exhibits ‘Experimental Relationship’, a series of personal images representing her thoughts on intimate relationships. Following is ‘Raves & Riots’ by Vinca Petersen, an acclaimed collection of images that document her youth adventures across different rave locations in Europe. Finally we have the portfolio of Sergio Porras from the US, who portrays his surroundings in the Californian Fresno and King Counties.
As for the literary part in this issue, we selected ‘Quandaries of Quinine’, an essay by Chilean writer Jessica Sequeira which tells the process by which the properties of the Quinine Bark were introduced to Europe.
