Tradition Obligates
Few companies can look back proudly on having such a long and diligent tradition as Hahnemühle’s. Since 1584, Hahnemühle’s papermakers have been proving that they have mastered their craft by creating unique and beautiful papers from pure spring water and first-class pulps. In the beginning hand-made vat papers were standard; today, traditional recipes are still used to make papers which inspire painters, graphic artists, illustrators, bookbinders, and an increasing number of photographers. In 1886 our paper mill in the south of Lower Saxony, Germany took the name Hahnemühle and ever since people worldwide have associated this name with the very highest quality of papers.

But Hahnemühle papers are also the first choice for various printing techniques, including art restoration, digital art production and high quality book-binding. Apart from a wide range of weights and surfaces, we also offer papers with classic watermarks and real deckle edges. Furthermore, all Hahnemühle papers are acid-free, light-fast, and extremely age resistant.

Apart from the Traditional FineArt Collection, Hahnemühle now offers its Digital FineArt Collection. Here, the classic artist papers are finished and coated for inkjet printing to combine the precision of state-of-the-art photo papers with the wonderful elegance of artist papers. The Digital FineArt papers are also recognized for their unrivalled color-range, brilliancy and contrast. They are especially suitable for photography, computer-generated art, and painting or photographic reproductions.
